The Resurrection of Jesus

Keith Sharp | Answering The Watchtower Society

The Watchtower denies the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead. “… Christ Jesus was put to death in the flesh, and was resurrected an invisible creature” (Let God Be True. 122). “… the Man Jesus is dead, forever dead” (Studies in the Scriptures. 5:454). But the Bible teaches the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead (Luke 24:36-43; John 2:19-22; John 20:24-29). In fact, the bodily resurrection of Jesus from the dead is the primary proof He is the Son of God (Romans 1:4). Jesus, though glorified, is still a man in heaven (Acts 17:30-31; 1 Timothy 2:5). Christ is indeed a Spirit, in that He is the source of life (1 Corinthians 15:45) and liberty (2 Corinthians 3:17), but, even after His resurrection, He had “flesh and bones,” which one who exists only as a spirit does not have (Luke 24:39). The same man Jesus who died is “alive forevermore” (Revelation 1:18).
